Spawn Of Yog-Sothoth

Nature: Creature
Type: Aberration

Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Size: Large
CR: 10

First Encountered: 19.1 "Some Say the World Ends in Fire"

Description: "The shape of this creature gives the impression of a squirming mass accompanied by an indescribable monstrous stench"

Information: These spawn are begotten upon the world as the results of vile rituals in which cultists call forth the essence of Yog-Sothoth, an Elder Horror from the depths of Xoriat (a being that the Daelkyr worship as something equivalent to a god), to impregnate a humanoid creature. The Elder Horror is not of this dimension or world; only by incorporating flesh and bone of a mortal can its spawn exist in this reality. Upon death, a spawn's flesh rapidly melts until nothing remains but a crusty stain.

Although the spawn of Yog-Sothoth are naturally invisible, they exude a hideous, unforgettable stench that alerts others to their presence (and also inflicts debilitating nausea, so it's got its advantages for the beast).

Ancient legend holds that the spawn of Yog-Sothoth are inflicted upon the world to clear it of all sane life and to prepare the way for the return of the Daelkyr and their armies. But it's just as likely that the carnage and mayhem it brings upon the world is due to its ravenous and constant hunger for blood as any agenda from masters beyond this dimension.

A spawn of Yog-Sothoth grows quickly to Large size, but if it continues to feed, it also continues to grow, albeit at a lesser rate. A truly ancient spawn can be the size of a barn or even a small hill. Fortunately, the few of these beasts that have managed to reach such titanic proportions, and most of their "normal" sized kin, have long since been banished to Khyber, to hopefully be trapped there forever.
