As player characters overcome challenges, they become more experienced. In time, this causes the PCs to advance in level, and thereby become more powerful. Over time, as your character rises to higher levels, they become a truly powerful force in the game world.

The chart below shows you what level your character is at for any given game session you might show up for.

Adding a new level generally gives you new abilities, additional skill points to spend, more hit points, and possibly an ability score increase or additional feat

Note: We sadly made a rather regrettable error when we told players that they received 1'000 gp for each of the first two sessions. They were supposed to only get 500 gp for each of these games, with session nr 3 and 4 being the ones where it was scheduled for them to earn 1'000 gp per evening.

As a result, they will be earning 500 gp for plot nr 3 & 4 instead, to help bring us back to the correct wealth progression.

It has been suggested that this could be explained away as the Wayfinder Foundation paying extra much in the beginning, to "lure in" as many as possible, and then reducing pay later once people are "hooked". While we might wish this was the actual reason, as opposed to us failing basic math and reading, we are however happy to retcon this as the in-setting justification, and applaud the players for their willingness to help cover up our mistakes : )

Levelling Up

When adding new levels of an existing class or adding levels of a new class, make sure to take the following steps in order.
●First, select what class to take a level in. You must be able to qualify for this level before any of the following adjustments are made.
●Second, apply any ability score increases due to gaining a level (happens every 4th level; see chart below).
●Third, integrate all of the level’s class abilities
●Update Base Attack Bonus and Base Saves, and traits based on these.
●Then, roll for additional Hit Points.
●Finally, add new skills and feats (new feat every 2nd level; see chart below).

Favored Class

●Each character begins play with 1 single favored class of his choosing — typically, this is the same class as the one he chooses at 1st level.
●Whenever a character gains a level in his favored class, he receives either + 1 HP or + 1 Skill Point.
●The choice of which class to have as "Favored" can't be changed once the character is created
●The choice of gaining 1 HP or a 1 Skill Point each time a character gains a level
(including his 1st level) can't be changed once it has made for any given level.
Prestige classes can never be a favored class.
(UPDATE: This last point has been houseruled to have an exception, namely when it comes to the racial traits of the Khoravar)
